An incredible antique Buddha pendant dating from the late Victorian period, circa 1900. The figure is carved from a single piece of opal, beautifully detailed, and depicts the Buddha after his renunciation having cut off his hair (in contrast to the usual - historically inaccurate - iconographic convention). The stone is mounted in 18 karat gold, with platinum bezel set diamonds set around it and in the bail.
